Cutting-edge treatments in a child-friendly setting

Considering the complicated nature of some of these conditions, parents are encouraged to ask questions as we thoroughly explain our evaluation and suggested treatment plan. We are proud to offer advanced surgical care for patients in all stages of childhood development – from newborn through adolescent years.

Recent developments in tissue engineering, distraction osteogenesis and surgical orthodontics are utilized to treat traumatic injuries, genetic abnormalities, and pediatric problems relating to the teeth, oral tissues and facial regions.

Our talented staff has decades of experience in the anesthetic and surgical management of young patients, assuring that their anxieties and fears are eased. We are able to create a pleasant, positive experience — one that prevents children from developing long-term phobias.

State-of-the-art surgical suites

With a view toward enhancing your child’s comfort and reducing anxiety about needles and pain, our surgeons and staff are trained to accommodate nervous young patients. Extremely fearful, agitated or uncooperative children may benefit from carefully administered sedation dentistry.

Though many standard procedures are performed with conscious sedation — using nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) combined with local anesthetic — complex or lengthy surgeries may require intravenous (IV) sedation, in which twilight medications induce a deep, peaceful sleep. In this way, children are completely insulated from any tension or discomfort.

In addition, our surgical suites are fully equipped to provide outpatient general anesthesia, administered under the cautious eye of our highly credentialed maxillofacial surgeons. All facets of pediatric oral surgery – from initial evaluation through post-operative visits – are managed with attention to compassionate, professional care.

Oral surgery for special needs children

We are proud to offer oral surgery for special needs children and young patients with compromised health. Whether affected by physical or mental challenges, your child will receive the best level of care in our capable hands. Many of our favorite young patients are on the Autism spectrum or have been diagnosed with special needs like Cerebral Palsy or Down Syndrome. Through use of positive reinforcement, tangible rewards, and distraction, we are able safely and effectively address their anxieties and special treatment needs.

Compassionate care for pediatric patients

Whether it’s a routine tooth extraction or an intricate cleft palate surgery, children need to feel safe and secure in the dentist chair or surgical suite. Your child’s emotional well-being, safety and health are of paramount importance to us here at Innovative Implant and Oral Surgery.
