Meet Matt Kosakowski, DMD

About Dr. Kosakowski

Dr. Kosakowski grew up in Stamford, Connecticut. His interest in dentistry started in high school, when he shadowed his own dentist and fell in love with the profession. He then went on to work full time as a dental assistant while completing his undergraduate education at the University of Connecticut, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Biology and Chemistry.

Dr. Kosakowski pursued his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at the University of Connecticut, where he distinguished himself as a dedicated student with a keen interest in surgical specialties.

Driven by a desire to delve deeper into the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery and passion for helping others, Dr. Kosakowski completed his residency in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at Weill Cornell, in New York City. During his four-year residency, he honed his surgical skills under the mentorship of world-renowned surgical experts, gaining invaluable experience in complex procedures ranging from dental implants to facial reconstruction.

Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Kosakowski remains actively engaged in academic pursuits and community outreach initiatives. He is dedicated to staying current with the latest advancements in oral and maxillofacial surgery by participating in numerous continuing education courses. In his free time, he also enjoys skiing, hiking & is getting ready for his wedding this October to his fiancé Chelsea.

 

Education & Residency

Dr. Kosakowski graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Biology and Chemistry degree in 2015. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2020 and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Weill Cornell Medicine at New York Presbyterian in 2024.

Certifications

Dr. Kosakowski is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and belongs to numerous organizations, including: 

  • American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS)
  • American Dental Association (ADA)
  • Academy of Osseointegration (AO)
  • New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NYSSOMS)

Hobbies & Interests

Outside of work, Dr. Kosakowski loves to stay active – in particular, he loves to ski. Otherwise, he is typically spending time with friends and family. Dr. Kosakowski will be getting married to his fiancé, Chelsea, this Fall in Philadelphia. Of note, Chelsea has worked in dental sales industry for over a decade. Some fun facts about him are: 

  • He’s a twin (fraternal).
  • The first wisdom teeth he took out were his dad’s.
  • He’s a yoga enthusiast.
